Draftkings Reveals 2022 College Hoops NFT Collection for March Madness

Bitcoin News

On March 15, the American fantasy sports contest and betting company Draftkings announced the company’s first in-house digital collectibles campaign called the “Primetime NFT Series.” The first Draftkings’ NFT series drop will be the “2022 College Hoops Collection” launched in unison with the single-elimination college basketball tournament known as NCAA’s March Madness.

Draftkings to Drop First In-House NFT Collection

In July 2021, the fantasy sports firm Draftkings (Nasdaq: DKNG) revealed a strategic partnership with the Super Bowl champion Tom Brady’s Autograph NFT platform and with the entertainment firm Lionsgate. During the partnership announcement, Draftkings announced the launch of its own digital collectibles market that will offer NFT drops and secondary-market transactions. The “Primetime NFT Series” will be the firm’s first in-house digital collectibles campaign and it will showcase NFTs featuring college basketball stars and moments.

The series will be called the “2022 College Hoops Collection” and avid collectors will be rewarded for their NFT patronage. Collectors who acquire all eight editions of the Draftkings NFTs will get a ninth commemorative NFT following the NCAA championship game via an airdrop. “This airdrop will grant collectors priority access to the next Primetime NFT Series drop,” the Draftkings press release notes. The following drops will give specific collectors access to site credits called DK Dollars.

“With each drop, collectors will be eligible to receive DK Dollars, which are site credits that can be used for gameplay across all parts of Draftkings’ digital sports entertainment and gaming ecosystem, like sportsbook and daily fantasy,” the company said on Tuesday. “Eligible holders can use their 2022 College Hoops Collection NFT rewards to place bets and enter pools, brackets, or fantasy contests as all the buzzer-beaters and Cinderella stories unfold this season.”

According to Draftkings, the new “2022 College Hoops Collection” series will also feature an exclusive one-of-one (1/1) edition of all eight collectibles. The firm plans to auction these NFTs via the Draftkings Marketplace’s auction platform. “Draftkings is already deeply embedded within the biggest moments in sports, and the new Primetime NFT Series will further drive engagement while also providing rewards that bridge to our gaming offerings for the first time,” Matt Kalish, the co-founder and president of Draftkings North America said in a statement.
