Hermès All Set To Explore The Metaverse
With the surging popularity of cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and the metaverse, leading global brands have now launched significant virtual projects to increase their online brand presence.
Following a similar course, French luxury brand Hèrmes has reportedly filed NFT trademark filings in a bid to expand its virtual presence.
Per a tweet issued by a licensed trademark attorney Michael Kondoudi, the quintessential luxury brand is all set to explore the metaverse to expand its suite of services into the emerging NFT and metaverse sector. According to the filing filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on August 26, the brand will essentially be working towards offering NFTs, establishing a virtual marketplace, and offering virtual fashion clothing and merchandise for global crypto enthusiasts.
Furthermore, the brand will lay credible emphasis on curating retail stores that offer a diverse range of services featuring virtual goods.
The filing further revealed that Hèrmes plans to work towards organizing and conducting virtual trade shows, fashion shows, and exhibitions alongside establishing an online marketplace for buyers to explore and purchase its range of virtual goods and services primarily in the form of digital collectibles and NFTs.
If approved, the luxury brand further intends to launch a downloadable computer software to facilitate smooth trading, storing, viewing, and management of virtual goods, digital collectibles, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs.
Luxury Brands Keep On Exploring NFTs And The Metaverse
This isn’t the first time when Hèrmes is exploring the NFT domain. The French luxury brand had earlier forayed into the NFT sector by launching its signature Birkin bags as NFTs.
In addition to this, several luxury brands including Gucci, Prada, and Tiffany and Co. have already established a credible user base by launching their signature products in a virtual domain.
In 2022, esteemed fashion brand Gucci announced its support for cryptocurrencies by permitting users to make payments via crypto. Along with that, recently Tiffany and Co ventured into NFTs by launching NFTiff, an initiative through which BAYC NFT holders can get their NFTs customized as designer embellished pendants.
